Since my Dad has retired he's wanted to rent a lake house, get lots of family together and spend time making family memories to last a lifetime. Last week was our first attempt at this master plan ... and I'd say it went pretty well. Monday night there were fifteen of us!
Malia loved playing in the bedroom that had two bunk beds with desks underneath. Us taller people, on the other hand, have come out with several bruises and aching heads because of them. But Malia just watched us howl in pain as she played on the bars.
Life without internet and poor cell phone and tv reception can actually be pretty relaxing. Just having no pressures of every day life and being able to wake up and ask "what do we want to do today?" is wonderful. Then, to add a beautiful beach and the sounds of waves on the water ... well, to copy the credit card commercial, it's priceless.
It was great being able to spend extra time with my aunt and uncle and cousins, who I usually only get to see once a year. Here's a group picture, minus one cousin and one cousin's husband.
We spent some of our time playing games like scrabble, dominoes and Yahtzee. So much fun, so much laughter.
Thanks, Dad, for dreaming up this great week! We're hoping to be able to do it again next year!
