Malia liked sitting on Pawpaw's lap as we waited for the ceremony to start. She and Luke kept busy with coloring/activity books thanks to the organizational skills of Luke's mother! However, Malia was still her noisy, active self!
She was tired ... the ceremony didn't start until 8pm, which is her bedtime. But the new environment and noisy crowd kept her wide awake. We had some noisy people behind us. Even though the crowd is asked to keep quiet as names are called, several people cheered and clapped and made fools of themselves. Malia loved joining in with them. She's just so funny.
One exciting discovery we had during this graduation was finding out one of the daughters of the family who owns and runs our favorite Chinese restaurant was Valedictorian of the class!!! She immigrated to the US when she was a young girl and worked hard to achieve this special goal. We were so proud of her. We talked with her and her Mom and brother after the ceremony and she offered encouraging words to Malia to work hard and she could be Valedictorian, too.
Oh, my little one, you will be graduating in the blink of an eye!
