GROUP DINNER

For dinner tonight, our whole group headed around the corner (no having to cross the treacherous street!) to a wonderful restaurant. Here is what you see as you look in the front doors ...

Miss Malia was very hungry by the time we got to the restaurant and the one thing we didn't bring with us was the Cheerios to tide her over (note to self). As soon as the first dish arrived she was screaming in the "I want a bite NOW" way, which was so funny. The cuisine was so delicious and our CHI and local guides sat at our table so we got some inside scoop on Chinese customs. Cindy does a great job asking the questions that get lots of great information out of people. For instance, our local guide told us that typically the number of people sitting at a table is the number of dishes they bring out to you - and they finish it all. We didn't do such a great job of finishing. However, we did win the contest for messiest area!!! I began Malia's feeding, but when Rick had had enough taste tests he took over. The only problem was that he was having to feed her with his not-so-dominant hand, so there was food all over the floor. Oh well, at least our baby girl was full. And, Tonya, I plan to begin bringing our baby spoon with us when we're out to eat. Chopsticks are prevalent and you can get forks if you ask for it, but spoons are a rarity.

Here is a picture of us leaving the restaurant. What a beautiful backdrop! However, my Mom was almost run over taking this. A car sped up the incline to the restaurant entrance, almost hitting her. Cindy had to pull her out of the way. I guess we're not as safe off-road as we thought. (We have seen several cars driving on sidewalks, which should have been our first clue I guess.)
