Some provinces in China are on alert over a deadly virus affecting children. The Enterovirus 71 - or EV71 virus - has killed 22 children so far and sickened over 8,000 other children. The main areas currently affected are the Anhui and Xinhua Provinces.
Milder cases of EV71 create cold-like symptoms, diarrhea, and sores on the hands, feet and mouth. The severe cases can cause fluid to accumulate on the brain, resulting in polio-like paralysis and death. The well-developed immune systems of adults can usually fend off this virus, but children are more vulnerable to it.
Please pray for Malia to be shielded from this virus! Pray that other children would be shielded as well. And please pray for the children who are already sick and dying.
