CELEBRATING MALIA!

Today we celebrated Malia's birth by throwing her a first birthday party. We kept it low key, just inviting close family. We feel so blessed to be able to celebrate this exciting milestone with our beloved daughter and truly rejoice in the life she's been given by our Almighty Father. What a gift she truly is to us - we are blessed beyond words to be her family!

Malia's birthday attire ...

She did rather well opening her presents. She threw the clothing aside and played with the toys, reluctantly giving each one up to open the next gift. She especially loved her birthday card from Aunt Stephanie and family. It was a Straw*berry Shortcake card that played a fun birthday song. So far this evening, she has spent time playing with each non-clothing gift ... and we are happy to have new toys!

Loving the musical card ...

This tiny piece of wrapping paper is fun to play with ...

Is this wonderful gift all mine? ...

I feel special with all these people watching me ...

I'm ready to ride! ...

I really love presents! ...

Then onto the cakes! You'll love this first picture with our China birthday candle placed on Malia's personal cake. In China our group celebrated all the girls' birthdays and our guides had this awesome candle for the big birthday cake. At the end of our trip our guides surprised each of the families with a candle to take home. As you light the inside of the candle it shoots off like a sparkler lighting all the little candles on the flower petals inside. Then the flower, with lighted candles on the petals, opens up and the "Happy Birthday" song begins to play (and won't quit until you take the battery out!).

For the big cake we decided to get one with Malia's picture on it. This picture is one of our favorites so far, so we decided to use it ...

Malia was a lot of fun to watch!!! We got off to a fun start when her right foot got into part of the cake as we sat her onto the floor. For some reason she was so concerned about the icing on her foot that it was hard to set her on her bottom. We finally got her sitting and it didn't take her long to dig in.

It's official ... she LOVES icing just like her Daddy! Speaking of Daddy ...

We absolutely LOVE being a family of four!

Looks like you've got plenty to keep you busy for awhile, Miss Malia......until Christmas, that is! What a cool candle!!

Your daddy told me you kept mommy up all night after your party....he said it might have been the icing to blame. It sure looks like you were having fun with it though, so I'm sure she didn't mind.

How gorgeous and happy you look in these pictures. Just love your little smile. We know your smiles will only grow bigger as you come to realize how fortunate and loved you are by so many. May you have many, many more icing parties ahead of you!
