USCIS APPROVAL

Well, I awoke in the 4:00 hour this morning with several things going through my head. (Waking in the middle of the night with swarming thoughts has been the norm since Monday - our Labor Day.) One of the things on my mind was that we'd forgotten to get the mail from the mailbox yesterday and I thought our USCIS approval letter might be in there.

This afternoon, Rick and I walked out to check and low and behold ... there was our letter. Approval! This is a relief since this paper MUST be valid upon our return to the States with Malia. Our previous approval was set to expire on October 17th, and we are definitely not going to be back with Malia before then. Plus, last week, in the midst of our joyous referral celebration, we were dealing with a letter we'd received regarding Rick's fingerprints, which must be valid to receive USCIS approval. We'd received a letter stating his prints had expired and they'd scheduled an appointement for him on September 19th to redo them. Well, we were just there on July 3rd for our fingerprint renewal and already received our letter stating both our prints are now valid through October 3, 2009. So, after making a few phone calls, we recieved a call from our local USCIS office last Thursday saying they had made an error and were reviewing our case.

You know, this is the only paper glitch we've encountered along our journey. We were a little disappointed that it came at the same time we were celebrating our referral, but we weren't overly concerned since we knew Rick's prints were valid through October 2009.

We now have USCIS approval through April 18, 2010. I'd say we'll be back with Malia by then.
