We've had quite the weekend around here. Friday evening we had a terrible storm go through our area which knocked out our electricity (and hundreds of others) and we didn't get it back until Saturday night around 11:30 pm. I tell ya ... electricity is a great thing and I'm so very grateful for it! I know funnel clouds were spotted in our area, but no news of a tornado touching down or anything - at least that I've heard. We do know that a man less than two miles from our house had his detached garage lifted over his Model A and replaced back onto a different part of his property - all without hurting the car! A semi truck was blown over, along with several trees and buildings ... and power lines were down in several places. It rained - or rather, poured - ALL night long Friday into Saturday, causing our dog to pant and pace nonstop.
Fortunately, we were gone most of Friday evening for graduation and most of the day Saturday on a youth group trip, so our level of inconvenience was minimal. Then, Saturday evening a friend of ours had some health issues and was taken to the emergency room so I went to stay with their daughter - one of our awesome youth group girls - until this morning. Needless to say my two hour nap this afternoon was much needed.
It's so hard to imagine what others who have survived devastating disasters go through. Despite the incovenience of having to go to Rick's sister's house for showers Saturday morning and having some things in the fridge spoil and dealing with some mild heat and humidity due to lack of air conditioning, we still have the option to go elsewhere to take care of our needs. It's really put the China earthquake and the Myanmar cyclone (and plenty of other disasters) into a little better persepctive. We are truly blessed ... there's no doubt about it!
At Friday's graduation we entered into the same auditorium that Steven Curtis Chapman entertained us in earlier this year. We couldn't help but think about how life was so much happier for them then compared to the deep grief they are dealing with now. We are still so sad for them.

I've not had the chance to check Melody's blog to see what she's been up to. You can go here to see for yourself, as I won't have much of a chance to update our blog over the next several weeks (VBS, Summer Camp, Summer Theater, Rummage Sale - and people think now that school's over things will slow down! Ha!). Updates will probably just include the most important news unless I find myself with lots of extra energy to stay up late.
And, finally, there are NO RUMORS! Old rumors from last week were saying that matching had begun and that January 23rd would NOT be in this batch. That's it. Kinda strange that nothing new is out there. The only adoption news to share is that I'll be sending a letter to the Citizenship and Immigration Office this week to schedule our third round of fingerprints. Our current fingerprints expire in July. Still trying to wrap my mind around how this whole process has drug out so long. Still hoping Malia will become a part of our family this year in the physical sense, as she's definitely already a part of our family in our hearts!
Here's to hoping for good rumors this week - or better yet, referrals!

You are still in our daily prayers. We ache for you and we have no more words of comfort for you. We want to get together with you and Coopers SOON! I'll be calling sometime this week :)
