Rumors Are Out

Well, RQ is finally receiving some rumors. First, let me state this little disclaimer: I'm not sure if some agencies know the information or if they are just making an educated guess on who's in and who's not. Anyway, here's what we've got ... some people are being told that they are in this next batch. Some have a November 10 LID, some have a November 14 LID and some have a November 17 LID. RQ's giving these each an R3, which means the information is coming from reputable agencies, but there's not enough to confirm anything. So, with this information we can make an educated guess that the 17th may be the cutoff date since, as stated in yesterday's post, an agency has told their November 18th families they are NOT in.

Now, let me remind you that last month's rumor of getting to mid-November was also an R3 for several days and then turned out to be false. So, it's hard to tell where this will end up.

I took another look at the China Adoption Forecast website today just to see what their guess was on when we might receive our referral. Here's what it said: "Our best guess - a weighted average of recent CCAA velocities, guessing that CCAA will perform about as well in the future as they are performing now, but might return to previous trends: Jan. 7, 2008. That's our best guess for when you might receive your referral. Just at a guess, we can suppose that the CCAA either speeds up or slows down significantly, and show you those dates. If they speed up: Nov. 9, 2007. And if they slow down: Feb. 21, 2009. Since China generally sends out referrals in a batch about once per month, your referral date could easily vary +/- one month depending on whether you just get included or just get missed in a particular batch."

Rick and I have been discussing how we just don't think our referral for Malia will come this year. Our best guess at this point is a referral in March and travel in May - at least that is what we are preparing our hearts for. It's sooooo hard to believe that we decided to adopt and started researching options when Spencer was in fourth grade and he could very well be finishing seventh grade by the time we bring Malia home. This waiting is SO hard!!!
